Gym Power

This weekend our Provincial level athletes competed at the Gym Power Invitational at Capital City Gymnastics.  Overall the athletes did an amazing job and showcased their routines and abilities phenomenally!

In the Provincial 2 Tyro 2003 Category Tyra had an amazing Vault scoring 13.3 out of a possible 13.5 earning her the Gold medal on that event.  Danielle had a very consistent day which included some HUGE tumbling on floor.  In the Provincial 2 Tyro 2002 Category Abbi placed 4th on Vault, 8th on Beam and 7th on Floor.  Kaelyn had a strong day and finished with a 6th place finish on Vault.

In the Provincial 3 Novice category Trinity did a beautiful floor routine earning the Silver medal.  Hannah showed a great bar routine and winning the Silver medal on that event in the P3 Open category as well as placing 5th on Vault, 6th on Floor and 8th in the All Around.

More great results!

It was another busy weekend for the NEGC competitive Program!  Our LEAP athletes attended the Winter Wonderland LEAP event at Capital City while our Provincial girls attended the Winter Flip Invitational at St. Albert Gymnastics Club.

The LEAP event was a great success with all of our athletes doing an amazing job.  For Charlie, Emma and Margaryta this was their very first LEAP event and they did a great job testing their Copper physical ability.  Amy, Karlie, Jazmyn and Christie also tested Copper Physical Ability and had great results.  Anya also tested Physical Ability but in the Bronze level and showed a big improvement from her last test.

Congratulations to Kaidence who passed her Copper Physical Ability and Tess who passed her Bronze Physical ability.  Ava also passes her Bronze Physical Ability earning her Bronze pin!  Congratulations girls!

At the Skills component Aliyah, Kaidence, Samantha and Jazmyn all tested Copper and did very well.  Christie also tested Copper skills and passed with a score of 92 out of 100!  Tess tested for Bronze skills and showed great improvement over her past test scores.  Congratulations to all the girls for a job well done - everyone at NEGC is very proud of you!

At the Winter Flip Invitational our athletes had an amazing weekend and came home with lots of medals and ribbons!  In the Provincial 2 Tyro 2003 category  Danielle placed 1st on Vault and Bars earning her the Silver Medal in the All Around.  Tyra won the Bronze medal on Vault, placed 5th on Bars and 7th on beam earning her 6th spot in the All Around.  In the Provincial 2 Tyro 2002 category Abbi placed 4th on Vault, 1st on Bars, 5th on beam, 3rd on Bars and won the Gold medal in the All Around.  Kaelyn had a great meet having just returned from a broken toe and placed 5th on Bars.

In the Provincial 3 Novice Category Bailey placed 5th on Vault, 4th on Bars, 8th on Beam, and 6th on Floor finishing 8th in the all around.  Trinity placed 7th on Vault, 3rd on Bars, 7th on Beam, 8th on Floor finishing 7th in the All Around.  In the Provincial 3 Open category Hannah won the Silver medal on Bars, the Bronze medal on floor and finished 4th in the All Around.  Gia won the silver medal on bars, and also captured the Silver medal in the All Around.  The girls also won the 3rd place P3 Team Award!  Way to go girls!


What a great weekend for Team NEGC - I can't wait to see what they do next!

A Great Start to the Year!

The competitive Season kicked off early with our LEAP athletes and Provincial level athletes both attending events before Christmas.

The LEAP athletes attended their first LEAP event of the season at Horizon Gymnastics Club on December 13 and 14, 2013.  All of the athletes did an amazing job and we are all very proud of them!  A big congratulations goes out to Samantha, Melissa and Sadie who passed their Copper Physical Ability and to Ava who passed her Bronze skills.  Well Done Ladies!



On the same weekend our Provincial level athletes were competing at Trials to Alberta Winter Games in Red Deer.  This meet is the qualifying meet for Alberta Winter Games which will be taking place in Banff/Canmore in February.  The girls all showed some amazing routines and we are very happy with their results.  Tyra competed for the first time ever and did an amazing vault - even with the vault set higher than she is used to!  Bailey also had an amazing vault and won the Silver Medal! Hannah placed 5th on Vault and 8th on bars, and Trinity placed 4th on Bars.  Gia placed 5th on Vault, 6th on Bars and 4th on Floor which helped her to finish in the top four in Zone 6 and qualified her for Alberta Winter Games!  We wish Gia the best of luck in February at the Games!
